JEE Main 2018: Online Exam Day 1 Shifts Over, To Continue Tomorrow; Live Updates

JEE Main 2018: The second phase of JEE Main examination -- online Computer Based Test (CBT) -- began today in the morning. The online CBT is being held in three shifts on today and tomorrow. The exam being organized in 258 cities all across the country and abroad. CBSE, the official agency which conducts the exam, will release the official answer keys of both online and offline exams on April 24. The official answer keys will be released on the official JEE Main website, jeemain.nic.in. However, the candidates may refer unofficial answer keys released by educational institutes and coaching centres on their websites.

Offline exam was held on April 8, 2018. 

The first phase of The 6th edition of Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2018 offline exam was held on April 8, 2018 for approximately 10,43,739 Lakh candidates registered for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programmes in NITs, IIITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions etc. JEE (Main) is also an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), for admission to the undergraduate programmes offered by the IIT/ISM Dhanbad.

Paper 1 of JEE Main 2018 online CBT is being held for admission to Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) and Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech).

April 15, 2018. 05:30 pm: The second shift of online examination of JEE Main 2018 has been concluded now. The candidates would need to wait till April 24 for the official answer keys. The official answer keys will be released on the official website, jeemain.nic.in.

April 15, 2018. 05:23 pm: "Online examinations are increasing their circumference in a well-planned and effective way, allowing students from tier 2 towns and small cities to become comfortable with the technology. Also since IIT-JEE (Advanced) examination is going to happen only online that is another reason why more students opted for JEE (Main) online mode for hands on experience and actual practice," says Rajshekhar Ratrey, VP Educational Content, Toppr.com.

April 15, 2018. 05:22 pm: The first day shifts of JEE Main CBT to be concluded soon. CBSE will conduct one more shift tomorrow, in the morning, from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. No untoward incidents have been reported so far.

April 15, 2018. 02:30 pm: The second shift of day 1 of JEE Main online exam begins. The exam will be held till 5.30 pm.

April 15, 2018. 01:58 pm: In a related development, CBSE has delayed the release of NEET admit card. NEET admit card was supposed to be released in the second week of this month.

April 15, 2018. 01:30 pm:  Candidates may access reviews and analysis of JEE Main online CBT soon here.

April 15, 2018. 12:45 pm:  Entry in the examination hall for frisking begins for the second shift of day one. The examination will begin from 02:30 pm. The candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam hall after 02:30 pm.

April 15, 2018. 10:51 am:JEE Main 2018 CBT of Paper-1 is being organized now at different centres located in 258 cities throughout the country and abroad on April 15 (in two shifts in some cities) and 16, 2018.

April 15, 2018. 10:30 am: On April 11, after the completion of the JEE Main offline paper, CBSE issued a statement denying a report which suggested 7-8 questions out of the 90 questions of the paper were carried from a model paper of a coaching institution by the name of Narayana Academy.

The board said that all these 7-8 items or questions were originally written only about two to three months back and they cannot and could not have figured in any model paper by any coaching institutions two years back. 

"There is an atmosphere of falsities and rumour mongering being deliberately perpetuated against a prestigious organisation like CBSE. CBSE appeals to all not to pay heed to such falsities," said the board.

JEE Main or the Indian Institute of Technology-Joint Entrance Examination (Main)'s offline exam was held on April 8 for around 10.43 lakh aspirants in 112 cities in India and abroad. The offline exam, conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), was held in 1,613 centres across the country and in eight centres in as many countries abroad.

"The sixth edition of JEE (Main) 2018 offline exam was held for approximately 10,43,739 candidates registered for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes in NITs, IITs and other centrally funded technical institutes etc," the CBSE said in a release.

The examination was organised for 6,46,814 boys, 2,66,745 girls and three transgenders, CBSE said.
